JANUARY 2010

Even a surprise visit from the Grinch couldn’t dampen the holiday spirit at the Post children’s breakfast. Santa & Mrs. Claus greeted over 70 kids.  Pictures were taken, crafts were made, good food was eaten, and a great time was had by all.  I would like to give ANOTHER special thanks to Alyson Shrum, Jr. Auxiliary advisor, for putting on a great event.  It takes a lot of forethought to keep many children entertained.                                                                                                                                    

We are providing  Christmas dinners and breakfasts to 8 Manassas City families with school age children through Family Services. We hope to continue our partnership with Family Services.                                                                                                                                                                At the December meeting we voted to donate $500. to the Osbourn/Osbourn Park JROTC program to buy uniforms.  Coordinating with Metz Middle School Tonya Herring put together 25 ’over-stuffed’ stockings for the Auxiliary to donate to the Stuff-A-Stocking program.  Thanks to everyone who donated.                                                                                                                                                                 We have several of our active duty military members who have deployed to Afghanistan.  We will start sending them care packages.                                                                                                                            The January meeting is cancelled but the February meeting is a go.  I hope many can attend, we will have some Spring projects on the agenda.
